  • Should have counseling, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Manage and account for allocated resources.
  • Formulate and implement research programmes.
  • Participate in the investigations of epidemic disease outbreaks and report to the Head of Division.
  • Coordinate, supervise and institute quality control measures in the Laboratory.
  • Initiate and ensure that staff conduct research and develop appropriate technologies.
  • Receive periodic reports from units,
  • Work as immediate technical in-charge of Laboratory services.
  • Troubleshoot and interpret all laboratory procedures.
  • Write standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Institute safety measures against hazards and ensure safe disposal of laboratory waste.
  • Participate in planning and budgeting for the Laboratory Unit.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Head of Department.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
