Key Duties of the Post/Key Results Areas
:
Plans, coordinates and supervises clinical services within the institution
Provides specialised clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients within the scope of practice
Provides technical guidance to Clinical Officers and other health professionals
Supervises, coaches, mentors and appraises Clinical Officers and other staff under his/her supervision
Participates in ward rounds, specialist clinics, clinical meetings and multidisciplinary team activities
Manages emergency cases and ensures appropriate referral of patients requiring specialised medical attention
Ensures adherence to approved clinical guidelines, standards, protocols and professional ethics
Coordinates implementation of quality improvement and patient-safety activities
Provides technical input into planning and procurement of clinical equipment, medicines, medical supplies and other logistics
Ensures proper utilisation, maintenance and accountability for clinical equipment and supplies
Participates in training, mentorship and continuing professional development of clinical staff and students
Participates in clinical research and promotes evidence-based practice
Advises management on clinical service delivery and related professional matters
Ensures accurate documentation and preparation of clinical reports and statistics
Participates in community health, health promotion and disease prevention activities as applicable
Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
