Key Duties of the Post/Key Results Areas
:
Assess patients before surgical procedures to identify anaesthetic risks and prepare them for anaesthesia.
Prepare, check and maintain anaesthetic equipment, drugs, gases and other supplies.
Administer anaesthesia within the officer’s scope of practice and level of professional authorization.
Monitor patients’ vital signs and clinical condition during anaesthesia and surgical procedures.
Provide immediate assistance in the management of anaesthetic emergencies, including airway obstruction, respiratory compromise and cardiac arrest.
Provide post-anaesthetic monitoring and care, identifying and reporting complications promptly.
Participate in emergency surgical services, resuscitation and other relevant clinical interventions.
Maintain accurate anaesthetic records, patient charts and reports.
Observe infection prevention and control measures, patient safety standards and safe handling of anaesthetic equipment and medicines.
Participate in clinical meetings, continuing professional development, mentorship and quality improvement activities.
Ensure proper use, storage and accountability of anaesthetic drugs, equipment and supplies.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor that are related to the role.
